Harley Davidson boots ……?

can any one tell me the name (model) of these boots ?

Go to this site they have several different styles similar to the ones in your picture.

The prices are excellent and they are guenuine Harley products, not knockoffs.

Sandra asks…

Best shoes/boots to wear on sports motorcycle – crotch rocket?

I’ve been looking around for some sports bike shoes. The harley davidson boots look too clunky to fit, going through the motion from the foot peg and the shifter.

The motocross boots look good but are too expensive.

Currently I am using tennis shoes, actually, they are heelys minus the wheel with the laces tucked in.

Can anyone direct me to a place where they sell leather shoes/boots that make sense to use while operating sports bike at an affordable price?

msharley answers:

Well Jetta, if you are looking for a high-quality sport bike boot, Alpinestars and Axo are the industry leaders. They offer enhanced protection, total leather construction, and a very positive feel with the shift and brake pedals. If you are on a tight budget, brands like Icon offer both high and lower priced boots that offer great protection. These brands can be found through distributors such as Dennis Kirk (denniskirk.com), and Motosport (motosport.com). As far as tennis shoes on a motorcycle, that is a no-go.

William asks…

Should I tuck my pants into these boots?

I’ve got a pair of these Harley Davidson boots. I think they look really rugged and I want to show them off. Would pants look good if tucked into the boots? What kinds of clothes can I wear with them?

msharley answers:

No, just wear jeans over them.

If you wanna tuck them in, then tuck them in, but its gunna look weird. Unless you wear really tight jeans, your pants are going to puff out really awkwardly above the boots.

George asks…

Why do so many county sheriffs dress like they are straight from the “old west”?

I mean, it’s the 21st century, yet these guys dress for work like they are going to a rodeo or to feed the cows. Yeah, I know, the terms sheriff, deputy, bring thoughts of a tin star and a six-shooter but geeeeez, do they have to take it literally? I saw a picture of our county sheriff and there he was, boots, ten-gallon hat, western shirt, and a big belt buckle. OK, so maybe the whole western/country thing is his lifestyle, but wear it to work? What if he was a Harley rider, would he come to work wearing a black leather jacket, a black Harley t-shirt, and a doo-rag over his pony tail? I’m sorry, but its hard to have confidence in an elected official that looks like he just fell off the hay truck. Today’s law enforcement is very up to date and hi-tech and they should look the part. Professional people should dress professionally! Even Sheriff Andy Taylor wore a police uniform in Mayberry.

msharley answers:

This is a problem where I live. They literally have a club they call Cowboys! And yeah, people do make fun of them. I don’t know why. You are right, it would help the public image if they dressed like a professional.

Robert asks…

On top of the start solenoid, there is a wire with a rubber boot.

Does anyone know if the rubber boot has a certain name?

I’n not certain what’s happened to the one on my bike, but it’s pretty chewed up so I want to get a replacement.

question about a 2002 Harley Davidson truck?

im 24 of age my girlfriend and i took it for a test drive off of a used car lot the only issue is that the front bumper is dented in and scratch and the side of the truck is scratch as well. and it has 92,000 miles but my girlfriend says she dont want to get something with a lot of miles on it , he has it listed for 13,999. below is the link does this sound like a good deal.

http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?ct=u&car_id=265903683&dealer_id=1392376&car_year=2002&model=F150PICKUP&start_year=2002&distance=25&make=FORD&body_style=TRUCKS&LNX=PNADAUVRPTEASER&address=84015&end_year=2002&cardist=3&standard=false

msharley answers:

Put a 10,000 down payment on something New That was from last year. The old model on the lot and don’t let them take you for a ride think of a price and stick to it. If it is reasonable then you will have a truck. Get full coverage!!!! And no loan from dealer. Go to your bank!!!!

Get a New truck and then buy them nice rim at a junk yard. Or from craig list

92,000 is a lot of mile for 14g I would look for something less showy and less miles then make it look sick. Then sell it for 14,000 and buy an new one. 10 years down the road if you drive normaly

Nancy asks…

How much is a 2008 Ford F-150 Harley Davidson Edition?

in the spring im thinking of getting one.

Can you lease these? if so what would it be per month?

If you can just buy them, what would be my monthly payment with $10,000 down?

Im looking for people that have bought the 2006,2007,2008 models to answer this because i dont want the price the ford website says on these trucks, i want to know what you could get it from from a dealer after you would with them on the price

Thanks alot, most helpful answer gets best.

msharley answers:

Haven’t bought one but work at a dealer so I got some experience …

You can lease them (Ford will pretty much lease anything they sell) with rates per month roughly a little less than ownership

However as the one guy said, loaded is $44,000 and depends upon where you live, market, options wanted, etc etc…. The superchargers are actually put on by someone else so that jacks up the price harder) Some are sold only for list price, some dealers are willing to make a deal to sell it, some of these trucks go for over list depending upon market climate (want) for these trucks in your local area and how long it’s been sitting on the dealer lot ( the closer it gets to 90 days on the dealers lot, the more they are willing to deal)

William asks…

How do I adjust the rear shocks on a Harley-Davidson Sportster 883 Iron?

I know that there are numbers for the different loads or whatever, but I am just looking to soften my ride. I usually ride by myself but have a passenger sometimes as well. What should I set it at, it’s in the middle now (according to the dealer)?
I know that there are numbers for the different loads or whatever, but I am just looking to soften my ride. I usually ride by myself but have a passenger sometimes as well. What should I set it at, it’s in the middle now (according to the dealer)?

To make sure that I don’t get any people saying that I don’t have an Iron….The MODEL is 883 Iron. It is new for 2009, it has nothing to do with the old one from the 80s. Cool?

msharley answers:

At the bottom of the shock spring is a Spring Adjusting Cam. It requires using a spanner wrench to rotate it in either direction. Lower numbers indicate lower preload amounts for lighter riders or a softer ride, higher numbers indicate higher preload amounts for multiple riders or firmer ride.

Laura asks…

2001 harley davidson brakes?

i have a customers 2001 ultra classic (12,000miles) in my shop. the problem is with the front brakes. after setting for about 1 minute the first pull has no resistance and goes all the way to the hand grip. the second pull it pumps up good and tight. i pulled each caliper off to verify all 4 pistons are working properly. there were working properly. next i attempted to bleed checking for any air in the lines. no air found. however it did have the factory dot 5 in it. so i then assumed that the problem was in the master cylinder. i purchase a repair kit and installed it. flushed out the entire front brake system using new dot 5 of course bled the entire front brake system using the vacuum bleed and also pressure bleed methods. yes i did feather (sort of speak) the brake lever to bleed all the air bubbles out of the master cylinder itself before i performed the flush and and bleed. so question is am i missing something here. well i know i aint missing anything cause i have done this a hundred times. oh yea the seals are installed currectly on the plunger. so any ideas that i may can try. i have probably 2 hours of bleeding time invested in bleeding so i am 100% sure there is now air in the system. so has anyone had this problem before. oh and please dont tell me to take it to the dealer. i have the same certifications as those guys and probably more exp than most of them. just a little stuck here. so tech to tech any ideas….thanks in advance
i dont have another around the shop for a dual disk bike. lol already thought about that. if it was a single disk i would just take one off one of my bikes. the only down fall to that even if i had one it is a paint to bleed those stupid dot 5 systems and that fluid is high as hell lol. but good thinking and thanks for the reply
good thought about the upside down calipers. however they are correctly installed. i have since this post tried the old hose in a can bleeding method and still no success. but i will go ahead and try tieing the lever back and see what happens. i will update in the AM. thanks guys
v twin i was wondering where you got your info on the 5 yr deal with changing all the brakes components. not by any means am i saying you are not correct. i am just wonderin cause i do not find that in the manual anywhere. i know the sportsters have a 25k service interval for replacement of front and rear caliper and master cylinder seals. i would just like to know so i can sell that service but i need to be able to show the customer the interval on it…thanks a lot hope to hear back from you…

msharley answers:

Tie the brake lever back to the bars (not hard just snug) and let it sit overnight. See how it is in the morning. This little trick has solved a few “bermuda triangle” brake problems for me in the past.

Richard asks…

Harley Davidson – Fat Bob Questions?

With every dealer you know that you are going to get screwed, but how far down are my pants going this time is the question? I want to purchase a H-D Fat Bob in May, I had a few questions:

1. What tips or tricks do you have when purchasing a new H-D? (i.e.-Price negotiation, add-ons, warranty…)

2. Can the fenders from a H-D Fat BOY be put on to a H-D Fat BOB?

3. Is there an aftermarket pipe that still keeps that stock look on the Fat Bob, or do I have to go with a custom job? (Price)

msharley answers:

First, ask the sales person if you can see the sales list that he has in his back pocket. Every dealership has a master list of the bottom line price a bike can be sold. Most often…the bike you are looking at is about 2-4 thousand more than the price on his master list. I just did this last week when picking up my Electric Glide.

Bob fenders will not fit…will need to be custumized to bolt on…rear tire is different diameter as well.

Don’t listen to the others…Screamin Eagle Pipes are the way to go…other aftermarket pipes that go great with BOB…check out JP Cycles…Vance and Hines makes an all black slash back and would look…sound…and perform great. Either way…a dealership needs to tune the bike when new exhaust are installed.

Live to Ride…all others can only wish.

John asks…

What did you pay for your Harley-Davidson 883 Iron?

I recently was given a quote of $10,200 OTD. I keep reading about people who have paid $7600-$9300. The MSRP is $7899. Needless to say the dealer still has the bike.
And before you answer, there is a new Sportster model out, 883 Iron. It’s not an ironhead.
Where I live is 9.25% sales tax.
side note…another dealer gave me a quote on a used Nightster 2008, less than 2000mi. with financing and after $1000 dwn the payments are $220/mo. for 72 months….bahahahahahahaa!

msharley answers:

If you can’t sweet talk them into MSRP as your final price, either they aren’t interested in making a deal or you aren’t a very convincing haggler. This rule of thumb extends to any vehicle purchase.

The 883 Sportster is not their cash cow. They aren’t buying a new Ultra Classic every year because of what they make off you from that bike. Knowing that, you can talk them down to next to nothing. It may help to buy some other stuff with the motor company’s logo on it at the time, to make it seem like you’re really into the lifestyle. Better yet, spend some time there and get buddy buddy with them. Soften them up over a period of time and see what happens. You could also use another dealership against them if you can find a better price somewhere else. There are all kinds of ways to overcome the limited intellect of a vehicle salesman.

Ken asks…

Stuck brake light , Harley Davidson?

I have an 07 street bob, the brake stays on, anyone have any ideas other than taking it to a dealer.
(no warranity)

msharley answers:

Have you had the right side hand control switch housing off for any reason lately?

If so, you most likely broke the little “tit” on the tip of the brake light switch. If the switch housing is not installed properly, this happens. You must squeeze the in the brake lever and hold it, then assemble and tighten the houusing. If you don’t the tab on the lever gets caught under the “tit”, then the first time you squeeze it, it breaks the switch….new switch is about $80 and requires soldering two wires together….there is also a little copper colred v-shaped wedge between the switch and the housing, this wedge keeps pressure on the switch so it doesn’t push back into the housing…take notice to how it is installed, DON’T LOSE IT!!!….and make sure to reinstall it.

If you HAVEN’T had the switch housing apart, either you have a bad front or rear brake light switch, one of your brake levers is stuck and hanging up and not fully returning, or you taillight bulb is installed backwards.

Explain ANYTHING done recently around the time of the light beginning to stay on….

msharley answers:

I am seriously considering the Wing as my next bike.
The 6-cyl makes for a smoother bike. The shaft drive is enclosed versus the belt (you can get a rock between the belt and pulley). Besides, the HD is air cooled; not a big deal unless your stuck in traffic. The Wing will out handle and outrun the UC.

Paul asks…

Why do Harley Davidson Riders hang out at HD Dealerships all day?

Don’t you guys know you look like a total, stupid idiots?
People that see you and walk past tend to think you have a mental disorder!
Why do you HD Riders that sit on your bikes in front of a Dealer and stare at everybody that walks past?
Don’t you know that’s rude and makes everybody feel uncomfortable?
Why don’t you guys ride your bikes instead of hanging out at a dealer all day?
waiting for service? they are out front sitting on their bikes !
if their bike is being serviced they wouldn’t be out front next to the sales entrance door sitting on their bike !
boogie 4, cause i ride past the HD Dealer on the wy home from work everyday and its always the SAME people there hanging out, then when I drive past 3 hours later the same people are there!
I mean, don’t they have something better to do?
What kind of life is that?

msharley answers:

At least some people have a place to hang out with others like themselves. Seems like they’ve got enough money to hang out where they want, too.

I guess we’re in the same boat, Bart.
We both gotta work and don’t have anyone to hang with.

Sharon asks…

Do you have an outfit or an article of clothing that makes you feel powerful?

I have these Harley Davidson bitchkitty boots I wear with my skinny jeans. Or a skirt.

msharley answers:

My Wonder Woman costume.

Joseph asks…

What is the warranty on the Harley Davidson boots?

msharley answers:

Don’t know and never occured to me to even ask. I’m on my 2nd pair of HD boots and when I wear these out, I’ll buy another pair. What’s the problem? I just plain wore out my first pair, and my 2nd pair saved my feet one morning last fall when I had an unscheduled meeting with the rain-slicked pavement due my dumb-ass overuse of the front brake. They done good. No complaints and one of the most comfortable pair of boots I’ve ever owned. Oh, and I got both pair 1/2 off list.

If you do have a problem with your boots, or anything else you’ve ever bought from anybody, the usual routine is to bring them back to the store and politely explain your troubles to a manager or someone in some position of authority. Always works for me.

Later……

or maybe direct me to a site where i can purcahse them. I’m looking for the round tip, not the square.

I just use a pair of over the ankle, oil/slip resistant boots. I dont bother getting 90 dollah hd boots when i could get a pair of boots from a shoe store for 30.

LoJack & extended warrenty on a Harley Davidson Nighter XL worth it?

So we bought our first Harley!! But were stuck as far as the lo jack goes. We live in a condo and have no covered parking so were thinking lo jack might give us a piece of mind. The dealer is offering it for $900. The extended warrenty is for 7 years and includes parts and labor, rental cars, room and board if were 100 miles from home. They want $1,600. Like I said we bought the nightster XL 1200. We paid around $11,000. Do you think the lo jack and warrenty are worth it. Oh, and we did the GAP insurance for sure ( paid $500). What do you think we should do? Are they worth it?

msharley answers:

What a shame, you could have bought a superior bike by getting a Victory 8 Ball with a 100 CI engine for around the same price $12,900.00 plus LoJack vs $13,500.00 for the Sportster and had a 5 year warranty at no cost. Victory dealers install LoJack for $600.00. Are you starting to see a pattern developing here ?

Harley warranty says you have to comply with all sched. Maint and even use HD overpriced oil otherwise warranty is void !! Dont believe it then read it all before you sign up. Change the exhaust warranty void.
